The summer suns heated rays shone down harshly upon you and Rin as you walked toward the local park. In the attempt to cool yourself off, you fanned yourself with your hand. Taken prisoner by his clothes, Rin removed his hoodie, revealing his toned arms, and wrapped it around his slender waist.

Pushing his maroon hair back between his fingers, he said "This has to be one of the hottest days of the summer! You don't think there's a pool around here anywhere, do you
[Name]-chan?"

You laughed. "Even if there was, I didn't bring a swimsuit! Although at this point...I think I would dive in anyway. I'm melting!"

You continued your way up the slender path with Rin and eventually reached the park, which was more lively than ever before. Parents sat together and chatted while their children played on the large colorful structures, couples enjoyed picnic's under the protective shade of the vibrant green trees, and various cyclists pedaled up and down the long winding paths, enjoying the scenery that the beautiful day had to offer. However, there was something else that was drawing you in. Beckoning for you to answer its call. A thriving oasis in a scorching desert. In front of you was a series of small vertical fountains, that sent crystal clear water into the summer air, revealing an array of rainbows when hitting the sun's golden light. You watched as the small children jumped playfully through them, dousing themselves in the cool waters.

When you and Rin looked at one another, you knew that you had the same idea. Together, you ran towards the fountains, kicking off your shoes, and laughing. As you hopped through the small fountains, the refreshing waters gently grazed your skin, making your body tingle. It wasn't long before you and Rin began chasing each other through the fountains, maneuvering yourselves around the spouting waters and splashing one another. After evading many of his attacks, Rin had successfully caught you from behind. In his arms, he twirled you around once, before setting you down on your feet.

"I caught you, [Name]! No escaping from me now!" he exclaimed, smiling at you with his shark-like grin.

"Not today, sharkie!" you said, as you slithered out of his grasp. Playfully splashing him with water.

His eyes widened at your sudden actions. "Oh, it's on, my little starfish!" he said, with fire in his eyes.

Smirking, you accepted the challenge.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
You continued to chase and splash one another until you both became fatigued from your "intense" water war. As water trickled down your skin, you and Rin made your way for the large
tree on top of the hill. Sitting down beside one another, you soaked up what was rest of the sun to dry yourselves off.
"I still think I won..."
You looked at Rin's drenched figure. "No way! If we were to wring out your clothes, the water in them could fill up a pool!" you said, giggling.
"Tch...maybe a bath tub...or a sink..." he pouted. "I want a rematch! The winner will get a reward. Anything they want!"
You smiled at his offer. "Sure! I'll even let you pick out a game!"
Rubbing his chin, Rin pondered. "Hmm... Samezuka is holding its annual cultural festival in a few days. The event is open to the public, so anyone can attend. I already let Gou and the others know, so I can only imagine they will come! There's going to be a kick board race, a "how far can you swim without taking a breath" race, the armored sidestroke, a relay..." he trailed off.
You brushed your hair behind your ear. "I...uh...you don't expect me to race you in a relay... do you?" you said, nervously.
He laughed. "I'm not that cruel, [Name]-chan. However, there is one event that would be perfect!"
"W-what... is it?" you asked, fumbling your words.
"A survival game!" he exclaimed, placing his hands on your shoulders.
You tilted your head to the side. "A... survival game?" you questioned.
Rin smiled. "With water guns!"
You sighed in relief. "Water guns, huh? Sounds fun! How does the game work?"
"There will be two teams of four. If you get hit once by the opposing team, you're out for the rest of the game. Last team standing, wins! Therefore, if my team wins, I win our rematch, if your team wins, you win. Fair enough, [Name]?" he asked.
"Hmm, seems fair enough, Rin! However, I have to warn you. I have quite the aim." you said, trying to act sly.
"Aye...well you better be prepared! I will not hold back!" Rin said, smirking.
You giggled at his competitiveness. "Challenge accepted!"
As time passed, you talked with Rin and your clothes had eventually dried. The gentle winds blew against the tree you and Rin sat under, rustling its leaves. As you looked down from the hilltop, you could see the horizon. The cerulean sky beginning to fade into warm shades of pink and orange. The sun lowering itself into the ocean.
Rin wrapped his arm around your shoulders. Looking at you, his face only inches from yours, he asked "Have you ever watched the sunset, [Name]?"
You blushed from the closeness. "I...I have from my bedroom window a few times, but... there's something different about this one. Looking back...I don't remember those sunsets being nearly as beautiful as this one." you said, looking into his eyes.
He smiled at you warmly, before taking your hand into his. "Well...I hope you will remember this sunset for a long time, [Name]. I know I will."
Holding onto his hand, you assured him. "I will never forget, Rin."
Together, you watched as the sun submerged itself into the ocean. The water now painted with darker shades of pink and purple. Stars began peeking out from the cloudless night sky, as the breeze became chilled by the rising moons touch. In that moment, you were glad to have Rin by your side. His touch kept you warm and his smile gave you comfort.
You would never forget this day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Rin looked to you, the moons silver glow reflecting in his eyes.

"I suppose it's time I brought my little starfish back to her home. It's getting late." he said, with a slight sadness in his voice.

Hesitant, you replied quietly. "You're right. I shouldn't worry my parents."

Rin traced his hand along your shoulders, as he arose from his spot. Stretching, he said "I promised Sosuke I would jog with him in the morning before class, and we also have practice tomorrow..."

"Then we shouldn't delay! You need your rest, Rin."

"Thank you, [Name]-chan." he said warmly, as he held out his hand for you to take.

You took his hand, and he pulled you up to your feet. "No need to thank me. I only want what's best for you, sharkie."

Intertwining his hand with yours, he said "You surprise me more and more every minute i'm with you."

"Then you're going to be in for a lot more surprises!" you exclaimed.

Rin's eyes widened.

You paused, feeling awkward. "T-that's...that's only...if you want to...y-you know...keep spending time with me..."

His expression softened as he let out a light laugh. "Of course! I would love to spend more time with you, [Name.]"

You looked up at Rin and smiled happily.

"Now let's go, little one."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The crickets sung, the street lights hummed, and the people at the market packed up their things for the day. The night's cold winds blew, embracing you in its icy grasp, sending shivers down your body. As you walked closely to Rin for warmth, he looked down at you, noticing your shaking figure. Concerned, he unzipped his hoodie, and carefully wrapped it around your shoulders.
"Is that better?" he asked with a smile.
The warmth of his hoodie enveloped your body, ridding it of your shivers.
"Much better! Thank you, Rin. You're too kind". You brushed your hair behind your ear, blushing.
Watching you, he rose an eyebrow. "I noticed something..."
Nervous, you asked "Noticed...what?"
"You brush your hair behind your ear whenever your shy. It's cute...[Name]-chan."
"I...I guess I don't notice when I do it. Although..." you let out small laugh, as you looked up at him. "Gou, said the same thing. You two are more alike than you think!"
Rin laughed. "Sometimes, it can't be helped."
As you continued walking up the quiet narrow street, a familiar house came into view. Your home. The soft white lights inside making the windows glow. That's when you knew your parents were home from work. You opened the small gate, and Rin walked you down the path to your door.
You turned and faced him, looking into his glimmering magenta eyes. "It's been a while since I had this much fun. Thank you, Rin, I had a wonderful time today."
He smiled, looking into your [e/c] eyes. "I'm glad you had as much fun as I did, [Name.] I hope we can spend many more days like this together."
"I would love to!" you said happily. "Oh, and..." you paused, beginning to take off Rin's hoodie.
"Keep it. Wear it when your cold and i'm not around." he said warmly, with a subtle wink.
You slipped the hoodie back on and blushed. "Thank you, Rin. I'll keep it safe! I promise!"
Rin let out a lighthearted laugh. "Well, I better let you go now." he said, reluctantly.
You nodded, with a smile. "Okay, sharkie."
Although you did not show it, you were saddened to say goodbye. You didn't want Rin to leave your side. However, you knew in your mind that this was not the end. This was not a "goodbye", but rather a "goodnight." You were going to see Rin again, with many more days like this to come. This was only the beginning of something new.
It was then Rin had placed his hand upon your shoulder, and kissed you softly on your cheek.
"Goodnight, [Name.]" he said quietly in your ear. Giving you a warm smile as he leaned away.
Am I dreaming?...
"G-goodnight, Rin." you said, as you placed your hand on your now crimson colored cheek.
"I'll see you at practice tomorrow, right?" he asked, slowly backing away.
"I...y-yeah! O-of course! I'll see you there!" you exclaimed, fumbling with every word.
He smiled and waved, as he walked away down the path, and up the narrow street into the night.
Rin...
You heard your door open suddenly from behind you. Startled, you turned to see your mom's silhouette standing in the doorway.
"Was that him!? The boy my little sakura went on a date with today?" your mom asked eagerly.
"Mom!...Were you watching this whole time? That's...kind of creepy you know!" you exclaimed, as you crossed your arms.
She laughed. "He's quite handsome, [Name]-chan. Is that his hoodie you're wearing~? I hope you didn't get into any trouble!"
"Aish, mom..." you said, clearly embarrassed.
"Come inside, quickly! I have dinner made for you! You can tell me everything while you eat! Wait until your father hears of this!" she said, excitedly.
The rest of your night consisted of your mother and father interrogating you about your date with a mysterious maroon haired boy you had met at school. As awkward as it was, you knew they only asked these questions because they loved and cared for you. Although, you made it through one night of questioning, you knew Gou would be the first one to bombard you with questions tomorrow at school.
When you crawled into bed that night, you slipped into Rin's hoodie. You could still feel his warmth resonating in it, along with the light scent of chlorine that was all too familiar when you were with him. It became your... comfort blanket when you were away from him. As you lay there, curled up in his hoodie, you longed to be with him again. Rin.
What was it that you were feeling for him?
Is this what love feels like?
~~~~~~ 6 Days Later ~~~~~~~

The day had finally come; the Samezuka Academy Cultural Festival. Today, you were going head to head with Rin in a survival rematch game...with water guns! It had been almost a week since your date with Rin, and each day after, you became closer and more affectionate towards one another. You wanted to spend every free moment you had with Rin...while still making time for Gou and the others of course! You loved playing around with your friends, and this made you anxious for the day ahead. Rising from the comfort of your warm bed, stretching and uttering a small yawn, you began preparing for the eventful day. You wore a comfortable pair of shorts along with a casual [f/c] t-shirt and paired it with matching running shoes. After putting your hair up, you threw your knapsack over your shoulder and headed out the door to meet up with Gou.

As you walked down the narrow sidewalk you noticed a familiar maroon haired girl, not too far ahead, waving at you from the opposite side of the street.

"Hi, Gou!" you exclaimed, as you lightly jogged across the street to meet her.

"Hey, [Name]-chan! All prepared I see! Are you excited for today? This is going to be so much fun~!" she said, joyfully.

"I'm looking forward to it! Especially the survival game!" you said, smirking.

Gou gave you a high-hive as as she said "We're going to dominate, [Name]-chan! I can't wait to see the look on onii-chan's face when he loses to his sister and his girlfriend!"

You let out a nervous giggle, feeling your cheeks turn red. "I'm....i'm not his girlfriend, Gou!"

"Not yet you aren't~!" she said, while winking playfully.

What if someday I was Rin's girlfriend?

You giggled as you lightly shook your head."Aish...Gou."

Quickly changing the subject, Gou said "I'm REALLY looking forward to the "Best Muscles" contest. Did I mention yours truly is going to be a judge?! There is going to be many glorious muscles! To faint or not to faint? That is the question!"

You laughed at Gou's acting. "I'm sure you'll be a great judge, Gou-chan! Out of curiosity...where are Haru and the others?"

"Makoto went to meet up with Haru at his house. He likes to check up on him, because Haru can be stubborn in the morning..." she trailed off. " You know...I heard that Makoto walked in on Haru bathing once!"

You gasped. "Really?!"

She placed her hands on your shoulders. "He did! Apparently Makoto was so startled that he started to blush!" Gou giggled. "As it turns out, Haru was still wearing his swimsuit at the time. However, now that I think about it...I don't think Haru ever takes it off!"

You giggled at her story telling.

"Anyways, after Makoto gets Haru, they are going to meet us at Samezuka, along with Rei and Nagisa. Oh, and no need to worry, [Name]-chan, Rin is also meeting us there! I know how excited you must be to see him~! " she said as she poked your arm playfully.

"Aye, Gou! Your not going to tease me all day are you?" you asked, jokingly.

She linked her arm with yours, and smiled. "Only a little!"

You laughed, as you began walking with Gou to the cultural festival.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Upon reaching Samezuka Academy, you were greeted by your friends outside.
"Ohayo, [Name.] Nice to see you could make it!" Makoto said warmly.
Smiling, you greeted "Hi, Makoto! I'm happy I could be here!"
"Lightweight aerodynamic clothing...comfortable and proper footwear...hair tied up to avoid distraction...I would say you are well prepared for today's survival game, [Name]!" Rei
exclaimed.
You clapped your hands together happily. "That I am, Rei! I love games, especially ones that offer a challenge!"
Games, no matter the type, have always been the one thing that you were absolutely confident in. You were good at them, and you always strived to be the best. At times your competitiveness got the best of you, but you knew that in the end, it was only a game. Games were simply made to bring amusement to the people that played them, and you were ready to have fun!
Curious, you asked "Apart from Gou and I, which two of you will be participating in the survival game with us?"
"Myself and Haru will be your partners in crime" said Makoto, with a slight smirk on his face.
You looked at Haru to see him nod in approval. Smiling, you nodded back at him.
"Sosuke, Nitori, and Momo will be apart of Rin's team." Makoto explained.
Not long ago you had met with Nitori and Momo during practice. Attending joint practice's with Gou became a regular thing for you, not only because you wanted to be there to support your friends, but because it gave you more time to see Rin. You remembered Nitori for being the small quiet silver haired boy who always looked up to Rin for guidance. And how could you forget Momo? That crazy orange haired boy who was absolutely head over heels for your friend Gou. He made sure to always make himself known when Gou was around. However, you had never formally met Sosuke; the tall and mysterious black haired boy that raced with Rin during practice.
"Rin's team will offer a challenge, no doubt..." Rei said, pushing up his red glasses further up upon his nose and crossing his arms. "...but I believe in everyone one of you. We must win
for the Iwatobi Swim Club!"
Together you cheered, until Nagisa unexpectedly ran to you and gave you a hug. "Hi, [Name]-chan~! I was just talking to Nitori, and he said they were selling Taiyaki inside! Did you want to come with me and buy some!?" he asked, eagerly.
Suprised, you replied "S-sure, Nagisa!"
"I knew you would come with me! You love sweets just as much as I do!" Nagisa exclaimed as he pulled you away from the group.
"Nagisa, don't eat too much! You have a relay to swim, and you don't want to upset your stomach! You too [Name]-chan! I don't need you collapsing in the middle of battle!" Gou
exclaimed, concerned.
"Don't worry Gouuuu~ We're only going to eat a few!" he exclaimed to Gou as he walked you inside.
As you made your way through the halls of Samezuka Academy with Nagisa, you looked around for the notoriously sweet Taiyaki snack.
Out of curiosity, you asked "Are you nervous for the relay today, Nagisa?"
"Not at all! It's just for fun! We've raced against Rin senpai many times, and every time it was a blast!" Nagisa said, talking with his hands enthusiastically.
You giggled. "I'm glad that swimming with your friends makes you this happy, Nagisa!"
He wrapped an arm around your shoulder, playfully. "That's what friends are for, [Name]-chan! To make you happy!"
As you walked around the corner, the Taiyaki seller appeared not far down the crowded hall.
"I'll pay! How many do you want, [Name]-chan!? Five? Ten?" he asked eagerly, as he made his way towards the stall.
Laughing you said "Just one will do! Thanks, Nagisa! I owe you one!"
"He always had a bad case of sweet tooth..." an alluring voice said from behind you.
"Eh?.." you murmured, as you turned around to see Rin standing in front of you, dressed in his black and yellow athletic attire. His defined collarbone peeking out slightly from
his unzipped jacket, and his short maroon hair tied back into a small ponytail.
"Rin!" you smiled, as you wrapped your arms around his tall figure.
Rin embraced you in his arms. "I was starting to think you weren't going to show up for our rematch, my little starfish." he said quietly into your ear.
"If I hadn't of come, then I wouldn't be able to collect my winning reward, would I, sharkie?" you said slyly into his ear.
Leaning back from the embrace, he smirked at you. "Then I guess we're here for the same reason!"
You giggled. Shortly after, a tall, built, black-haired boy with aquamarine eyes approached you and Rin.
"Sosuke! This is [Name]-chan. She is going to be one of our opponents today in the survival game." Rin explained.
Sosuke fixed his eyes on you, making you nervous.
Does he remember seeing me at practice?
"Nice to meet you, [Name,] I'm Sosuke. I've heard a lot about you." he said as he held out his hand for you to shake.
You politely shook his hand. "Nice to meet you as well, Sosuke. Y-you've... heard a lot about me?" you questioned, nervously.
"Rin hasn't stopped talking about you since that morning we went jogging togeth-" Sosuke said, before being interrupted.
"Oi! I told you not to say anything..." Rin said, rubbing the back of his neck.
You blushed at the thought, brushing your hair behind your ear.
Sosuke let out a lighthearted laugh. "Sorry, Rin, I must have forgotten."
"You have also forgotten that you still owe me a Cola." Rin said, smirking.
He sighed. "Tch...i'll go get one for you now. I'll see you, or shoot you rather (with a water gun,) at the survival game later, [Name.]" Sosuke said with a cold smile before walking away.
Your eyebrows pinched together in confusion. "Did...did Sosuke just threaten me?"
Rin laughed. "I think he did, but don't worry. I'll make sure i'm the one to get you out." he said, mischievously.
Your eyes widened at his challenging words. "You better watch your back." you sneered.
There was a brief moment of silence before you both burst into laughter. At that moment, Nagisa came back with two Taiyaki's in hand.
"Here, [Name]-chan!" he said, passing you the sweet snack. "Hi, Rin! Did you want one too!? I could go get you one! Three even!"
"Hey, Nagisa. I'm alright, thanks!" Rin assured.
You bit into the fish-shaped Taiyaki. The soft red bean paste exploding from the warm pastry. "Mmm, sugoi!" you exclaimed, with stars in your eyes.
Rin laughed, entertained by your reaction. "I'll let you two enjoy your treats. I'm going to find Nitori and Momo before they get themselves into any trouble. Hopefully by now Sosuke has the Cola he promised me. I will see you soon, little starfish." he said with a wink.
You let out a soft giggle and nodded. "Until we meet again, sharkie!"
"See you around, Nagisa." Rin said as he turned and walked down the hallway.
"Bye Rin-kun!" Nagisa said, waving, as he took a bite of his snack. "[Name]-chan, why does Rin call you his little starfish? He never called me anything like that!"
You smiled as you watched Rin fade into the sea of people. "The same reason why I call him sharkie. I suppose it's just something special that...keeps us close."
Nagisa's jaw dropped and his eyes sparkled. "Uwahhhh~! So [Name] and Rin senpai ARE dating!"
"Aish...not you too, Nagisa! What do you mean by we "ARE" dating? Did Gou say something to you!?" you asked, embarrassed.
"Gou MAY have mentioned something about you two going on a date to me... Makoto... maybe Rei... I don't know if Haru was even paying attention at the time..." he murmured, while taking another bite of Taiyaki.
You stared at Nagisa with fire in your eyes.
Nagisa smiled widely. "It's okay though, [Name]-chan! We're all happy for you two! No need to be secretive! That's what friends are for, to be there for each other!"
Your expression softened upon hearing his words. Sighing, you said "I... I suppose your right, Nagisa. Thanks!"
"Don't mention it! So, did you and Rin kiss yet!?"
You nearly choked on your Taiyaki upon hearing those words. "Kiss!? N-no... no we haven't kissed..." you said, tripping over your words. The thought brought butterflies to your stomach.
Will Rin and I ever kiss?
Nagisa patted your back while giggling. "It was only a question [Name]-chan!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The survival game. The time had finally come. The moment of truth. Who will be the winners of the much anticipated survival game; Iwatobi or Samezuka? Who will be the victor of the
rematch; you or Rin? A face-off between fated rivals. A face-off between two...lovers?

"As for the rules: Your movements are limited to anywhere on the Samezuka Academy grounds. Get shot and your clothes wet, and you're out. You will have to withdraw from the battle. Time limit is one hour. You may choose to stay together, or work as a team.The team with the most members left on the field at the end wins. Simple enough, everyone?" Rei concluded.

"Yessir, Sergeant Rei!" said everyone in unison, saluting.

Rei laughed, standing proudly. "Remember all the tips I suggested. They may just be the key to winning this battle!"

Makoto handed out the water guns along with a small knapsack, that carried one water gun refill, to everyone.

"Haru! You get the blue one!" Makoto said happily, passing the water gun to Haru.

Haru smiled. "Thanks, Makoto"

"You're staying with me, right [Name]?" Gou asked, inspecting her colorful weapon.

Filling your gun with H20, you replied "Of course! We fight together!"

"We'll split up into teams of two. Makoto...let's focus on Rin and Sosuke. We'll leave Nitori and Momo to Gou and [Name.]" Haru said.

Makoto agreed. "Seems like a fair enough match-up to me. Gou? [Name]?"

"Sounds good to me!" you agreed.

"I'm ready!" Gou exclaimed.

"With that being said, the match will start in 5 minutes. Good luck out there everyone!" Rei exclaimed.

"Go Go Go Iwatobi!" Nagisa cheered.

Looking to your fellow teammates, you nodded, threw your knapsack over your shoulder, and went your separate ways. Hiding behind a brush with Gou, you awaited the sound of the bell; signaling that the game had begun.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"What should we do, [Name]? Should we wait here until someone comes along?" Gou aksed.
"If we stay in the same position for too long, they'll eventually find us. We want to remain hidden as much as possible and alternate positions when the times allows. If we see an opportunity to strike, we will do just that. In the meantime, let's remain stealthy."
Excitedly, Gou said "I feel like i'm in a war movie!"
You smiled at Gou as you rose a finger to yours lips. Peeking around the brush, you scoped the area. Nobody in sight.
Quietly, you said "Let's go, Gou. We'll make our way behind those trees in the far north-east!"
Nodding, you and Gou ran behind the cover of the trees. Clutching her gun close to her chest, Gou peeked around the tree, and quickly reverted her eyes.
"I think I just saw Nitori run toward the fountain in the courtyard. Should we go after him?" she asked, quietly.
You pondered. "Hmm...we don't know if he's alone. We best keep our distance." Looking around, you noticed the short brick walls that surrounded the courtyard. "If we hide behind those brick walls for cover, we may be able to get a closer look at the fountain."
Crouching, you made your way to the wall with Gou.
"Do you see anything, Gou?" you asked.
Peering over the wall, she examined the fountain before kneeling back down.
Confidently, she said "Nitori is definitely hiding behind that fountain! I think we can get him!"
"The question is, how will we get close to him without him running? He may lead us into a trap." you said, thinking over the scenario.
As you surveyed the area, you spotted a soccer ball by a nearby tree not far from your current position.
Maybe we could use that soccer ball as a distraction... Nitori is a bit skittish after all.
You stealthily made your way to the tree. As you were about to pick up the soccer ball, you heard the snapping of a tree branch nearby. Standing up straight, you shielded yourself behind the tree. Someone was near. Looking to Gou, you signaled her to hide. To your disbelief, she shook her head and stood up.
"Hey, Momo! I'm over here!" she exclaimed, waving her arms.
Momo's here? What is Gou thinking!? She's going to blow our cover, or worse, she's going to get herself shutout!
You looked over at the fountain Nitori was hiding behind and saw no visible movement. Yet.
"Gouuuuu-chan! I've been meaning to ask you if wanted to hunt for stag beetles sometime!" Momo exclaimed, as he was drawn in by the sight of Gou.
"Sorry, what was that, Momo? I can't hear you well from this far away! My hearing isn't very good..." she said, twirling her hair around her finger, smiling shyly at Momo.
You felt a "whoosh" of air by your ear, as Momo ran past you toward Gou, not noticing your presence behind the tree.
Did Gou plan to lure Momo out so that I could shoot him?
Momo was charmed by Gou's "cute shy girl" act. He yelled, "D-d-don't be sorry, Gou! I wanted to ask y-"
Seizing the opportunity, you pulled the trigger. Shooting a blast of water from your gun, you hit Momo in the back.
"Ah! Ah! Hey!" Momo exclaimed, jumping around. As he turned and looked at you pouting, he said "No fair! You took my love for Gou and used it against me! How cruuuuuel!"
"Sorry, Momo!" you said, smirking.
One down!
"Nice shot, [Name]-chan!" Gou said happily as she made her way over to you.
Smiling, you said "I wouldn't have been able to make the shot without your distraction, Gou!"
Your expression faded into darkness when you saw a flash of silver appear from the tree behind Gou.
"Gou, behind you!" you exclaimed.
She looked at you with fear in her eyes, and turned around, only to be struck by the cold water of the gun that Nitori pointed at her.
"NOOOO! Gou!" you exclaimed, shocked by the situation.
Gou fell to her knee's and uttered the words "I'm...s-sorry, [Name]..." before she fell to the ground.
"I'm sorry Gouuuu! I should have saved youuuu!" Momo exclaimed, with sadness in his voice.
Nitori took off and ran across the courtyard through the archway. Running over to Gou with Momo, you knelt down beside her.
Lowering your head, you said "You will not be forgotten, my dear friend."
Gou looked up to you, and whispered "I was foolish...I should have stayed hidden like you said..."
"You made a courageous act, and for that, I am grateful" you assured her.
"Avenge me, [Name]! Run after Nitori!" she said with fire in her eyes.
Nodding, you said "It would be my honor!"
"Now go before the others see you!" she exclaimed.
"Take care of her, Momo!" you said, smiling at Gou, before you made your way for the archways.
"So...did you want to hunt for stag beetles tomorrow, Gou-chan!? We can even call it a date!" Momo asked, eagerly.
Gou sighed.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After sprinting through the archways across from the courtyard, you glanced around the corner.

Where are you Nitori?...

Putting your back against the wall, you looked at your watch. 25 minutes had passed. At that moment, you felt the presence of someone nearby. Peeking back around the corner, Nitori stood holding his water gun to you and fired. Quickly pinning your back against the wall, you evaded his attack. Panicking, Nitori continued shooting wildly at you from the other side of the wall, until you heard a small gasp.

"No...no...no! Not now!" Nitori exclaimed, fumbling with his water gun and trying to open his knapsack.

He must have run out of water... This is my chance!

You stood out from behind the wall and fired a shot of water straight into Nitori's chest.

As the water seeped through Nitori's shirt, he raised his hands in the air. "Y...you got...me." he said reluctantly, pouting.

You smiled, and patted him on the shoulder. "Sorry, Nitori! I have to say, you're very quick! You put up a good chase!"

"T-thanks, [Name]!" Nitori said, while bowing his head to you. "I-I'm going to go and find Momo and Gou now! Goodluck with the rest of the fight!"

You nodded. "Thanks, Nitori! See you around!"

You silently made your way through and around buildings towards the large green field, hiding behind every object you could along the way. 35 minutes had passed.

Two down...

Squinting into the distance, you saw Haru and Sosuke shooting at one another in the open field. Scanning the field, Makoto and Rin were nowhere to be found.

Why is Haru fighting Sosuke alone? Did Makoto get shutout? I wonder if Rin is still alive...

In the spur of the moment, you decide to help Haru as you did not want to lose another teammate. Running towards the field, you hid behind the trees along the side, waiting for the right moment to strike. You did not want to risk being shot by Sosuke. After all, he did threaten to shoot YOU first before the game even started.

As you watched the fight continue, Sosuke became progressively fatigued. Seeing Sosuke become slow, you took it as an opportunity, and ran straight towards them. Dodging his attacks with ease, Haru shot for Sosuke's chest. Unexpectedly ducking and diving to the right, Sosuke avoided Haru's attack and aimed his water gun. Within a blink of an eye, Sosuke pressed the trigger and a burst of water launched out from his gun, hitting Haru in the stomach.

"HARU!" you exclaimed, as you ran up to the scene.

As Haru fell to the ground, clenching his stomach, Sosuke turned to meet you face to face.

Maybe I can trick him...

Aiming your water guns at one another, you asked "Sosuke, how about we make a deal? We both shoot on the count of three. 1 for 1. Fair enough?"

"I'm not here to wager my life, [Name.]" he said, slyly.

You tilted your head to the side. "Are we going to stand like this for the next 25 minutes then?"

Sosuke laughed. "If that's what it takes."

Curious, you asked "Where do you think Rin is, Sosuke?"

"Probably chasing down your friend, Makoto." he said, with a smirk.

"I can say for certain, he isn't!....anymore..." Makoto exclaimed, as he shot Sosuke from behind.

"Ehh?!" Sosuke turned around to see Makoto with a water gun aimed at him.

Makoto rubbed the back of his neck, and smiled. "Hi, Sosuke! Sorry, Sosuke..."

"Tch...I shouldn't have let my guard down..." Sosuke said, reluctantly in defeat.

You smiled as you gave Makoto a high five. "Good work, Makoto."

Three down! Only one to go...

Makoto smiled at you warmly before looking down at Haru with a concerned look. "Haru? Are you going to be okay?"

"Water..." Haru mumbled, as he sprayed himself with his own water gun.

"Haru, you really do love water. When were you planning on introducing me?" Makoto laughed.

You and Haru laughed at Makoto's joke.

Shielding your eyes from the sun's glare with your hand, you looked off into the distance. Squinting, you noticed a figure making its way toward you.

Rin!

"Makoto, we have to go, now! Rin's coming this this way! Sorry, Haru!" you exclaimed, as you began running in the opposite direction toward the buildings.

"I thought I gave him the slip! We'll come back for you, Haru! Bye Sosuke!" Makoto said, following you.

"Save your goodbye's, Makoto, unless you want to be shark-bait." Sosuke said with a smirk.

Slowly sitting up, and raising his water gun, Haru shot a blast of water at Sosuke's arm.

Sosuke looked down, clearly unimpressed. "Haru, i'm already out!"

Haru smiled at him devilishly, before falling back into the grass.

Sosuke looked at him for a moment, before letting out a small laugh.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As you ran with Makoto, you looked behind you to see Rin slowly catching up. Together, you decided to run to the courtyard and hide behind the short brick walls surrounding the fountain.
Panting, you said "He's...he's going to find us. We need... to figure out how we're... going to get him, and quick."
"Let's split up. You stay here, and I'll hide behind the brick wall parallel to you on the opposite side of the fountain. When he comes through the archways to the courtyard, he'll probably check the fountain first. That's when we sandwich him from both sides."
You pondered on the idea. "Okay, sounds good! Operation "Rin Sandwich" is a go!"
Makoto laughed quietly and nodded, before making his way to the opposite side. As you peered over the wall, Rin came into view. Rubbing the back of his neck, he glared at the fountain.
I'm going to win, Rin! Go and check that fountain!
Suddenly, Rin sprinted across the courtyard toward the brick wall that Makoto was hiding behind. Rin leaped onto the short wall and jumped off, turning 180 degrees in the air. Aiming down at Makoto, he shot a blast of water from his gun. As he landed, he stood in front of Makoto, who was now drenched in water.
"Makoto! It looks like the shark finally caught his prey." Rin said, with a shark-like smile.
Makoto laughed as he stood up, wiping the water from his face. "That was a pretty neat, Rin! Were you a ninja in your past life?"
Rin and Makoto laughed together. Your eyes widened at the sight.
How did Rin know that Makoto was hiding there? Did he know what we were planning to do? More importantly, I have to get out of here!
You snuck away, and ran towards the Samezuka Academy gardens. You thought this would be the perfect place hide and plan your attack, as there was plenty of cover from the surrounding foliage and tall hedges. 10 minutes remaining.
I have 10 minutes to win this for the Iwatobi Swim Club! 10 minutes to beat Rin and win our rematch. I can do this.
Opening your knapsack, you refilled the water cartridge on your gun. Taking a deep breath, you began sneaking around the hedges. Startled by the rustling of leaves from behind you, you quickly turned and aimed your gun. Nobody.
He could be hiding in the hedges...
You cautiously made your way to the rustling hedges. Ready to attack, you pushed through the hedge, and pulled the trigger, releasing a small stream of water into the air. Again, no one was there.
Must have been a bird or a squirrel...or Rin is just good at hiding.
You bit your lip, becoming tense from the situation. Turning back around, you made your way quietly down the gardens winding path. The garden becoming almost like a maze in the situation, as you were not too familiar with the Samezuka Academy grounds.
Alone. Behind. Rustling. No one left. Movement. Lost. Footsteps. Hiding. Rin. 5 minutes.
Becoming paranoid, you turned around and aimed your gun. Nobody in sight. You lowered your gun, and sighed. Turning back around, you walked a few steps, before being ensnared in someones grasp. You had been grabbed from behind. A hand wrapped around your waist, and a water gun placed on your heart.
Feeling the heat of his breath down your neck, Rin whispered in your ear "[Name]...you escaped me for this long, but I finally caught you."
You became tense. The grip on your water gun slipping away as you began to sweat, your body quivering. A tide of fear swallowing your heart.
I...I can't lose...not yet!
Spinning around to face your attacker, you aimed your gun, ready to shoot. Before you could, Rin had grabbed your wrist and pushed it away, averting your aim. The sudden force causing you lose grip on your water gun. As it dropped to the ground, Rin pinned you against the nearby fence, his body only inches from yours. His water gun pressed firmly against your side.
Looking into your [e/c] eyes, Rin said "I'm sorry, [Name]" As he pressed the trigger, you felt your t-shirt become soaked, the cold water sending waves of chills throughout your body.
Your eyes widened as Rin stepped back. You dropped to your knees, and looked down at the cold hard ground, holding your side. Your competitiveness began to devour you. You had lost. Defeated by Samezuka...defeated by Rin. You let down Gou, Haru, Makoto...you let down Iwatobi.
Kneeling down in front of you, Rin had placed a finger underneath your chin, lifting your face up to meet his gaze.
"Don't be upset, my little starfish." he said with a warm smile.
Looking into his eyes, you became calm. His warm smile soothing your thoughts. It was okay to lose. Losing doesn't mean that you are any less than you were before. You did not let anyone down. Nothing is going to change. Your friends will still love you...Rin will still love you. The color pink rushed to your cheeks; your expression softening.
Games...games were simply made to bring amusement to the people that played them, and I am here...I am here to have fun!
As you looked into each others eyes, you stealthily picked up the nearby water gun you had dropped, and swiftly pointed it at Rin's chest.
You smiled happily as you doused Rin with the water. Rin raising an eyebrow at your action.
You jokingly blew away the "smoke" from your gun. "Now we're even!"
Rin laughed as he stood up, helping you to your feet.
You giggled. "So, I suppose this means you won our little rematch. What will Rin ask for as a reward, I wonder?"
Rubbing his chin, he said "Hmm, I don't quite know yet..."
You let out a small laugh in disbelief. "You don't know yet!?"
Rin smiled as he took your hand into his. "Give me some time. I'll figure something out."
"Okay, Rin. I will be awaiting an answer!" you said, anxiously.
Everyone was proud of how long you remained alive during the survival game. Gou was ecstatic that you avenged her "death," although she was less ecstatic about having agreed to Momo's offer. Having felt bad for tricking him in the way she did, she was now going to hunt for stag beetles tomorrow afternoon. Poor Gou, she really does have a soft heart! In the end, everyone had fun, and that was all that mattered. As the day progressed, it was almost time for the final event of the day: the relay. This was going to be your very first time seeing Iwatobi and Samezuka swim against one another in a race outside of practice! You and Gou stood eagerly beside the calm azure pool, as you waited for the boys to get changed in the locker room.
"Today was so much fun! Although, the "Best Muscles" contest could have went better. I felt like I was too...indecisive!"
"You did a great job judging, Gou-chan! Makoto was definitely deserving of first place!" you assured her.
"I'm not saying that he wasn't! I...I just know I gave the most points to onii-chan! Is...is that bias?" she asked, twiddling her fingers.
You giggled. "Maybe a little."
"In my defense, he does have spectacular muscles! Right, [Name]-chan~?" she asked, poking at your side.
You smiled, and covered your cheeks. "He does have spectacular muscles..."
"Uwahhhh~! You admitted it!" Gou, jumped up and down happily upon hearing your confession.
"It's...it's true! Anyone could say that!" you exclaimed.
"I'm only teasing, [Name]-chan!" Gou said, giggling.
The large room echoed with cheers as Team Dolphin and Team Shark entered the room, dressed in their swimwear. You couldn't help but to stare at Rin as he walked up to the edge of the pool and began stretching. As he observed the room, your eyes met. "Good luck Rin!" you cheered happily, as you waved at him. Happy to see you supporting him, he smiled and waved back at you before putting on his swim cap and goggles; pulling the strap back and letting it snap back onto the back of his swim cap.
"Gou, is there a reason why Rin does that with his goggles? I haven't noticed Haru or any of the others doing that." you asked, curiously.
"Apparently Dad always had a habit of doing that with his goggles before a race. I suppose Rin does it to feel closer to him." she said, warm-heartedly
You smiled at Rin's admiration for his father. After the boys finished stretching, they got into position.
"Good luck, onii-chan~! Go Go Go Iwatobi!" Gou cheered.
You cheered along with Gou. "Go team dolphin!"
Makoto and Momo jumped into the water and got into their set positions. "Set...Go!" the announcer exclaimed through the PA system.
At the sound of the whistle, they both kicked off the wall. Momo was off to a strong start during the underwater phase. No wonder he was nicknamed The Sea Otter of Japan! However, Makoto's stroke was faster, and Iwatobi was currently leading the race! After making a swift turn, Makoto swam back to the team. Making it Nagisa's turn to dive into the water and face Nitori.
After Momo touched the wall, Nitori dived in and gave it his all to match Nagisa's speed. However, he could not close the gap. Nagisa swam hastily to the opposite end; securing the
lead with his speed boost at the turn, and maintaining it as he swam back. Seconds remained before it was Rin and Rei's turn to face-off. Sosuke had wanted to swim free, therefore Rin had decided to swim butterfly for the day.
"I suppose i'll have to let you start before me" Rin said to Rei, hands placed sternly on his hips. "But you better watch your back. You don't want to get bitten." he said, flashing his
shark-like grin.
"Well, you can just bring it on!" exclaimed Rei, as he slid on his goggles.
Rin smirked as he pulled his goggles over his eyes, determined to take the lead. As Nagisa touched the wall, gasping for air, Rei launched off into the water. Rin set on his mark, pushed off the block the second Nitori had reached the wall. Swimming with all of his strength, Rin began catching up steadily to Rei.
Your eyes widened. "Rin is so fast!"
"That's onii-chan for you!" Gou smiled.
You watched in awe as Rin glided through the water, almost as if he were as weightless as a feather in the wind. His arms and legs worked tirelessly. Each time he extended his arms and kicked his feet, he was another inch closer to catching Rei. His heart overflowed with adrenaline and his blood pumped with excitement. The time ticked, and the wall was in sight. Sosuke and Haru prepared to go head to head in the final leg of the race. Outstretching his hand and touching the wall, it was Rei who had finished first, Rin only inches behind.
Smiling, Rin said "Good swimming, Rei! It seems the shark couldn't catch you!"
"You too, Rin senpai! I suppose when your being chased down by a shark, you tend to swim a little faster!" Rei said, laughing.
Haru, anxious to immerse himself in the water, wasted no time in diving into its cool grasp. You could feel the intensity rise, as Sosuke dived in closely behind him. Haru slid his fingers
through the water with control, precision, and ease. His body moved in perfect rhythm, as if he were becoming one with the water. If it were possible for Rin to be part shark, then Haru must have been part dolphin! Sosuke following closely behind, swimming with unwavering power, pushed off the turn almost exactly with Haru, making the gap even smaller than before.
Both keeping a steady pace, Sosuke and Haru swam steadily down their lanes. The room erupting with cheers as they swam the last grueling 100 meters.
"Looking good, Sosuke!" Rin, cheered.
"Go Haru!" you and Gou, exclaimed.
Time slowed as Haru and Sosuke extended their arms towards the wall, outstretching their fingers, and reaching for the finish. Within a blink of an eye, the race had ended, and it was Haru
who touched the wall first! Iwatobi had won! The room lit up in excitement; the sound of loud cheers and clapping in the air. You and Gou cheered, jumping up and down in joy, before running over to Haru and the others.
"Great swimming, everyone!" Gou exclaimed, handing Haru a towel from her knapsack.
"That was so exciting! My heart was pumping!" you exclaimed.
"That's our Haruka-senpai!" Nagisa said happily.
Haru smiled. "I only swim free." he said, drying himself off with the towel.
"Let's keep this up and kick more butt at the summer tournament!" Rei said proudly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

After everyone had dispersed, you walked over to Rin. The water still trickling from his body. He removed his swim cap, and brushed his fingers through his hair. You felt your cheeks begin to burn, before you passed him a towel from your knapsack. Rin smiling at you in appreciation, dried himself off, before letting the small towel hang loosely around his neck.

"You swam great today, Rin!" you said warmly as you hugged him. "I'm proud of you! Your father would be proud too!"

Rin wrapped his arms around you, smiling. "Thank you, [Name.] I like to think my dad is watching over me when I swim. I want him to know that he gives me strength. I also want him to know that I don't swim only because of him. I also swim for myself, and for my friends. For you, [Name.]"

Leaning back from the hug, you looked up at him, and smiled. "Maybe one day, even I will be able to race you in a relay!"

He let out a small laugh. "I would be more than happy to give you lessons, my little starfish."

You smiled in approval. "I have much to learn, Rin senpai!"

Rin laughed at your compliment. "[Name]...I've been thinking..."

"What is it, Rin?" you asked, curious.

"About that reward..." he said, looking at you intently.

Your eyes lit up. "Do you have an answer for me?" you asked.

"I do." he said, as he lightly caressed your cheek.

Your cheeks began to heat up from his warm affectionate touch. He stared deeply into your eyes, making you feel vulnerable. You became lost in his glowing magenta eyes. The world around you fading, disappearing, until it was only you and Rin. Alone. Together.

As Rin pulled you into a close embrace, your bodies met. You had gently placed your hands upon his bare chest. The vibrations of his heartbeat pumping softly against your hand, becoming faster with every second.

"Rin..." you whispered.

Smiling at you warmly, Rin had leaned in and gently pressed his lips against yours.

You closed your eyes, taking in the sweet new sensation. A wave of feelings flowed through your mind. Surprise. Joy Affection. Relaxation. Pleasure. With the most powerful wave of all, being...

Love

After what felt like a blissful eternity, he slowly pulled away, resting his forehead gently against yours, his face only inches away.

"Will you be mine, [Name]?" he asked, with a warm smile that melted your heart, like ice cream on a blistering hot day.

You felt your eyes begin to flood with emotions. A tsunami of happiness. This is what you had longed for on the night you were curled up in Rin's hoodie. You longed for someone you could call yours. Someone you could trust, share laughs with, run to when you were feeling alone, cuddle with when a chill bit at your skin. Someone you could truly love, and know that they loved you just as much. In that moment, knowing you had found that someone, a single warm tear streamed down your face.

Rin looking at you attentively, caressed your cheek, softly wiping away the tear with his thumb.

Smiling, you simply said "Only if you will be mine, Rin Matsuoka."

Rin smiled with delight, as he twirled you around once in his arms, before setting you down on your feet. "I will always be here for you, my little starfish."

You giggled as you wrapped your arms tightly around him. "As I will always be here for you, sharkie."

I love you, Rin
This is the final chapter of my Rin Matsuoka x Reader love story! :happybounce:

I'm so happy that I finished it! Thank you to everyone who supported this fan fiction! :huggle:

You can read the first and second chapters here!
A New Feeling: fav.me/d8p4kth
First Date: fav.me/d8pntrr

I know i'm not the best writer, but i'm overjoyed knowing that I completed my first story!

It's ironic that I wrote a complete fan fiction about love, considering I've never been in a relationship.

Therefore, I suppose I wrote it in the perspective of a quiet shy girl who doesn't quite understand what it is to love someone for that reason! :blushes: Maybe some of you can relate!

Thank you~! Much love!
